Kampala – Deep sorrow has gripped the Christian community in central Uganda following the tragic killing of an evangelist after a Gospel outreach mission.
According to church sources, Alfred Kitenga was attacked and killed on the night of April 9 along the Northern Bypass in the Kawaala area of Wakiso District. He had just finished ministering the Word of God in Namungoona alongside his wife, Anna Grace Nabirye.
The couple reportedly accepted a ride from individuals who posed as motorcycle taxi riders and claimed to be fellow believers who had attended the outreach. Trusting them, they began their journey home—unaware of the danger ahead.
During the trip, the riders diverted from the expected route, and more individuals joined them. What followed was a brutal and heartbreaking assault.
Nabirye recounted the terrifying moment, explaining that they were violently attacked. Her husband was beaten and fatally stabbed, while she was left injured near their home.
Church leaders later discovered Kitenga’s body by the roadside and alerted authorities. Police have since launched an investigation, though no arrests have been made and the motive remains unclear.
A Call for Prayer and Vigilance
“This is a painful loss for the Body of Christ,” one church leader shared, urging believers to remain steadfast in faith while exercising wisdom during ministry activities.
The incident has raised fresh concerns about the safety of evangelists, especially during evening outreaches. Christian leaders are now calling for increased caution, accountability, and security for ministry teams.
While Uganda is known for upholding religious freedom, such incidents remind believers to stay watchful and prayerful.
📖 Bible Verse for Encouragement
“Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
— Matthew 5:10 (NIV)
